Flying as a Butterfly chapter 2
by Jason Stewart### The Mysterious Cottage
In the evening, the group stayed in a wooden cabin. Lily shared a room with a female friend. As soon as she entered the room, she tied the string of the butterfly to the window, and the butterfly started fluttering in the wind.
At the same time, Tom was lying in bed, admiring the butterfly tied to the headboard, which was fluttering up and down. Listening to the sound of the flowing water, the voices of people in the cabin, and the rhythmic sound of washing clothes, he felt very comfortable. Suddenly, the string of the butterfly broke, and the butterfly flapped its wings and flew out of the window. Tom quickly rushed out to chase it and bumped into Lily. Lily shouted, “My butterfly flew out. I’m going to get it back!” Tom was surprised and said, “Mine flew out too. It seems they want to run away together!”
They chased after the butterflies. The butterflies flew through the bamboo forest and into a small path. They followed for a while, but suddenly the butterflies disappeared. Looking around, they were shocked to find that they were surrounded by wild grass and desolate forests, and there was no path at all.
Just as they were in shock, thick fog rose from the forest. In an instant, the whole area was covered in fog, and only a few weak rays of light came from afar. They were completely lost and could only hold hands and walk slowly along the rocky and vine – covered path. After a while, they finally saw a yard in front.
Just as they were about to knock on the door, it creaked open, and an old woman’s head appeared. To their surprise, it was the vendor who sold them the butterflies. The old woman asked in surprise, “What are you doing here?” Tom said, “The two butterflies we bought flew here, and we followed them.” The old woman stared at them and sneered, “Young people don’t tell the truth. Those are fake butterflies. How could they fly so far?”
Lily shivered when she saw the strange expression on the old woman’s face and the cold light in her eyes. She quickly pulled Tom and said, “Let’s go back!” The old woman smiled and said, “Since you’re here, come in and sit for a while. It’s so foggy that you won’t be able to find your way back.” Tom had no choice but to pull Lily into the house, thinking that even if the old woman didn’t believe the butterflies flew here, they could just buy another pair.
