### The Strange Vendor
Tom and Lily are a young couple deeply in love, and their relationship has reached the stage of marriage. However, after Lily introduced Tom to her parents, they firmly opposed the marriage, believing that Tom was not the right person for their daughter. This situation left the couple extremely distressed. Recently, some friends planned to visit a well – known scenic spot nearby, and to relieve their stress, Tom and Lily decided to join them.
One day, as they passed by a small stall, they were attracted by the butterflies on it. The vendor was an old woman. Two butterflies, one yellow and one red, were fluttering around her head, looking extremely beautiful. When the old woman noticed them looking, she pulled a thread tied to her headscarf, and the two butterflies landed in her hand. Only then did Tom and Lily realize that these were not real butterflies.
Seeing their surprised expressions, the old woman handed the two butterflies over and said, “Would you like to buy a pair?” They took the butterflies and found that they were exquisitely made, almost indistinguishable from real ones. There were beautiful patterns on the wings. The red one had a picture of a young man, and the yellow one had a picture of a young woman. As soon as the old woman let go, the two butterflies flapped their wings and started flying in front of the stall.
The old woman suddenly asked, “You two are lovers, right?” Tom nodded. The old woman then smiled and said, “These two butterflies represent a pair of lovers who were deeply in love and became a timeless legend. Unfortunately, there aren’t many people as infatuated as them these days. I bet you’re having trouble with your marriage, aren’t you?”
Tom and Lily looked at each other in surprise and asked, “How did you know?” The old woman smiled slightly and said, “I guessed from the worry between your eyebrows. I’m over sixty and have seen so many people and things.”
They were quite shocked that a strange old woman could see through their thoughts. The old woman then handed the pair of butterflies over and said, “Buy a pair. They’re unique here. Maybe they can show you what you want to know.” They smiled and bought a pair.
Tom tied the string of the red butterfly to his button and the string of the yellow butterfly to Lily’s scarf. Throughout the journey, the two butterflies kept flying above their heads. When they were climbing the mountain, they saw several other couples with butterflies flying above their heads. Everyone couldn’t help but smile at each other.
