My attention was fully focused on the TV. Seeing that I didn’t say a word, the stranger spoke again, “Don’t ignore me. Maybe I can make you rich. I’ve changed my mind. I don’t want to run anymore. I’m fed up with this terrifying life on the run. The police in our city have offered a $10,000 reward for my capture. After you’ve fed me, you can call the police and get that $10,000. You must have a phone here. Just press a few numbers and you’re done.”

I gradually remembered. This man in front of me was the wanted murderer on the police’s list! I saw the wanted notice about two or three weeks ago. He didn’t come here to make me rich, and he didn’t really want to stop running. If so, he could have just turned himself in, which would have saved a lot of trouble. This must be a plot. But I didn’t want to call the police because if the police came, there would be a big scene here, and this long – awaited fight would definitely be ruined. Maybe it didn’t matter to others, but for me, it was worse than killing me!

I told him I wouldn’t call the police. I just wanted to watch this fight, a world heavyweight championship fight between Tyson and Holyfield. I handed him an empty cup and said there was hot water in the thermos and bread and sausages in the fridge. I told him to help himself and eat as much as he wanted, but not to disturb me while I watched the fight. The stranger glanced at me, first poured a cup of water from the thermos, then took out the bread and sausages from the fridge and gobbled them up. He kept swallowing and gulped down the water with loud “gurgling” sounds. He ate with great relish and didn’t even look at me…

The fight had reached the third round. Holyfield continued to take punches, but he was no longer just defending. He started to counter – attack while defending. He dodged one of Tyson’s heavy punches and landed a beautiful uppercut. I couldn’t help shouting “Good!” At this time, the stranger had finished eating and drinking. He wiped the breadcrumbs from his mouth with his hand and said, “Thank you for the hospitality. Now you can call the police. I won’t leave or resist. I’ll wait for them. But I’m about to go to jail soon. It’s already winter, but I’m still wearing autumn or even summer clothes. I don’t think anyone will bring me clothes in there. You can’t get that $10,000 so easily. What I mean is, can you give me a few old clothes? I don’t need good ones, just something to keep me warm.”

While staring at the TV watching the fight, I orally agreed to his request. Later, during a break in the fight, I found a coat and threw it to him. He immediately put it on.

The fight was going on in an almost suffocatingly tense atmosphere. In this round, Tyson was knocked down. I jumped up from the sofa in excitement. The referee counted the seconds for Tyson. Tyson signaled that he could continue the fight, but at this time, the TV signal suddenly interrupted. The screen was filled with snowflakes, and then a line of words appeared on the TV screen: “Please wait due to signal interruption.”

The stranger looked at the quartz clock on the wall and said, “You could have called the police by now. I think you’ve wanted to do that for a long time, right? You want to get that $10,000 reward as soon as possible and you don’t want a murderer staying in your house. Am I wrong? It’s just that my days of freedom are numbered. Let me stay here a little longer. Besides, the TV has no signal. Having someone with you is better than being alone. Don’t you want to hear my story – the story of why I killed someone?”

I said that originally I wasn’t interested in his story, but since the TV signal was interrupted and I had nothing to do, it wouldn’t hurt to listen to his story.

The stranger said, “Okay. I killed people for no reason. It’s just a hobby of mine. I’d feel itchy if I didn’t kill someone for a few days, just like a smoker or a drug addict who is addicted. Don’t be afraid when I say this. I won’t kill you. You gave me food and clothes, and I don’t have any weapons on me. I won’t be able to kill anyone anymore because as soon as you call the police, I’ll be arrested right away. They’ve been chasing me for a long time, and I also want to take a rest…”
