One’s life is about having the spirit to persevere. chapter 4
by Jennifer DoyleAs the woman shouted, Jack felt his heart beating faster and faster. Then, a man ran in from the back door of the store, shouting, “Is it really Uncle Jack? Is it really you?”
Jack looked at the man and gasped. This was exactly his nephew Tommy, who he had executed himself five years ago. Jack felt a chill on his scalp, and the hairs on his body stood up. Tommy didn’t look much different from five years ago, except that his face was pale, without a trace of blood, and he walked lightly, as if his feet were not touching the ground.
As soon as Tommy saw Jack, he shouted, “Uncle, Uncle, I’ve missed you so much these years.” He stepped forward quickly, trying to hold Jack’s hand.
Jack was really scared and didn’t dare to let Tommy hold his hand. He quickly took a few steps back and pointed at Tommy, but couldn’t say a word for a long time. Tommy was a bit confused and hesitated, “Uncle, what’s wrong with you? Don’t you recognize your nephew?”
Jack rubbed his eyes and looked carefully in the sunlight. He found that there was a shadow behind Tommy. He finally breathed a sigh of relief. Old people said that ghosts didn’t have shadows. Since Tommy had a shadow, he must not be a ghost!
