A Strange Plan

Tommy was not a good boy. It was all because his parents had spoiled him when he was a child. When he grew up, he became a bully in the town, doing nothing but causing trouble. He made friends with some hooligans and always behaved arrogantly.

As the saying goes, good deeds are rewarded and bad deeds are punished; if not now, then later. Five years ago, Tommy not only cheated people out of their money but also killed someone. He was arrested by the police and sentenced to death.

Two days before the execution, Jack went to visit Tommy in prison. Tommy knelt on the ground, crying and saying, “Uncle, you must save me this time. My parents died early, and you’re my only relative!”

Jack wanted to save him, but Tommy had broken the law and killed someone. Not to mention a small executioner like him, even the sheriff couldn’t save him.

After being begged by Tommy again and again, Jack finally said to him, “Nephew, I’ll tell you a way. As long as you listen to me and do as I say, you’ll definitely survive.”

Tommy kowtowed to Jack and cried, “Uncle, I’ve never listened to you before, but I will this time.”

Jack sighed and said, “Remember, when it’s time for your execution and I raise the axe, you close your eyes and run forward as hard as you can.”

Tommy cried and said, “I’m tied up all over. How can I run?”

Jack said, “Don’t worry about that. At that time, just close your eyes, think about it, and run forward desperately. Don’t look back, and you’ll be able to run away.”

Actually, Jack made up these words to deceive Tommy. A prisoner about to be executed was tied tightly, and there were so many guards around. How could he run away? Jack just wanted Tommy to die more peacefully and with less pain, so he came up with this way to comfort him…
