Dear Mom and Dad,

I miss you so much. I’ve been extremely busy these days. I just got back from New York and now I’m going to Los Angeles. I’m constantly in meetings and dealing with contracts. But even so, I’ve gained weight. I’m too afraid to step on the scale. It’s really a headache.

Mom and Dad, it seems I can only come to see you two after some time. Nowadays, communication tools are very advanced, but I don’t want to be ‘unreliable’. I think writing can better express my feelings and thoughts.

Mom and Dad, please take good care of yourselves.

Your loving daughter, Lily

After reading the letter, the old woman’s eyes were filled with tears. She folded the letter and put it under her pillow, saying considerately, “Don’t let her come back. And definitely don’t let the child know I’m so seriously ill. She’ll be heart – broken, and taking time off work will also affect her job.”

The old man sighed and said, “Children are like birds. Once they grow up, they’ll fly away. We can’t tie her to us. When you’re feeling better later, write her a letter to tell her you’re okay.”

A sad look appeared on the old woman’s face. “I don’t know if I’ll get better. I’m afraid I’ll just keep getting worse.”
