The Case of the Matching Outfits chapter 2
by Joshua MoraIt turned out that I had “dressed the same” as Lisa! Under everyone’s gaze, my face started to burn. Although the quality of my clothes was a bit worse than Lisa’s, the style and color were exactly the same. Lisa’s face looked a bit ugly, and there was a moment of awkwardness at the scene.
After the dinner started, at Jack’s suggestion, everyone began to toast each other. Since I had more business exchanges with some major clients, I picked up my glass and went to Jack’s table to offer a toast. When it was time to toast Jack and Lisa, everyone stopped eating and looked at Lisa and me, who were wearing the same clothes. I looked very relaxed and said with a smile, “I’m very honored to dress the same as you, ma’am. The probability of this is not much higher than winning the five – million – dollar jackpot in the lottery. It seems we’re really destined.”
My words made Lisa relax her cold expression, and the guests beside her also smiled understandingly. Later, Lisa not only stopped looking stern but also came to our table to offer a toast. Finally, she took my hand and said with a smile, “What is fate? This is it! How about we become sisters from now on?” When I heard this, I happily raised my glass filled with wine and said, “Sure! I’ve always wanted a sister. I heard that you’re very good at cooking Western cuisine. I’ll definitely come to your place to learn from you some other day!” After saying that, Lisa and I drank up our wine.
After the dinner, Lisa was still in high spirits and warmly invited me to her home. We talked late into the night, and the previous misunderstandings between us disappeared completely.
Actually, this “dressing the same” incident was carefully planned by me: Since I learned that Lisa would attend that dinner, I knew it was a great opportunity. So I took the chance to ask Jack what clothes Lisa would wear. I didn’t have any other motives; I just wanted to find an opportunity to talk to Lisa…
