### Where Did the Sound Come From?

It was drizzling outside. Jack, still in a state of shock, filled his stomach on the street and then quickly went back to his room. His mind was constantly occupied by what Mr. Brown had said. He casually turned on the TV again. There was a police – and – bandit movie on. The police were in hot pursuit of a fugitive in a high – speed car chase. As the car was crossing an iron – cable bridge, it suddenly flipped over and plunged into a bottomless cliff. “Ah!” A chorus of screams suddenly rang out in the room. Jack was scared out of his wits. Where did this sound come from? How could there be so many people? Could this room be haunted?

The more Jack thought about it, the more scared he became. Looking out of the window, it was already dark. He was too afraid to go out, and he didn’t know who to call. After some thought, he decided to drink. Drinking could give him courage. Anyway, he didn’t have to work the next day. If he got drunk, he wouldn’t know anything. He just had to get through this night, and he would definitely change rooms tomorrow.

Well, it seemed that trouble was brewing! Jack poured himself a full glass of wine. Just as he took a small sip, he suddenly felt the urge to use the restroom. Maybe because he was so scared, he put the glass on the table and got up to go to the bathroom. But just after he finished, he heard two “bang” sounds outside. He rushed out quickly and saw that the glass and the wine bottle had been smashed on the ground, and the room was filled with a strong smell of wine. Jack’s face turned as white as a sheet. The glass and the wine bottle had been placed there properly just now, and no one had touched them. How could they have fallen to the ground for no reason? Could there be someone else in the room?
