Dr. Smith asked in confusion, “The zoo? What do you want with me?”

“Yes, there’s a very strange thing. I’m afraid you won’t believe it if I tell you, so it’s better for you to come here. This matter might be related to you.”

Dr. Smith immediately rushed to the zoo. As soon as the zoo director saw him, he quickly handed him a business card and asked, “Do you keep monkeys?” Seeing Dr. Smith shake his head, he explained, “Early this morning, there were three monkeys running wildly on the street. One of the monkeys was clutching a briefcase tightly. After we caught it, we couldn’t take the briefcase away from it. It seemed as if the briefcase was its life. It wasn’t until we locked it in an iron cage that it took out this business card from the briefcase and waved it at us desperately, as if it hoped to see the person on the card…”

Dr. Smith followed the director to the iron cage. The monkeys that had been chattering and screeching fell silent as soon as they saw Dr. Smith. One of them knelt down on the ground and kowtowed to him repeatedly.

Dr. Smith walked up and said, “Give me the briefcase first.” The monkey respectfully held the briefcase above its head…

The zoo director was very puzzled and asked for an explanation. Dr. Smith sighed and said, “Yesterday, I accidentally developed a few pills, but I don’t know their properties. I just felt that they were very unsafe for humans. But they were robbed last night. These three monkeys are the three robbers from last night. Now I understand that the pills are a kind of regression medicine for humans. If you take them, you’ll degenerate into monkeys.” Dr. Smith turned to the three “monkeys” and said, “I warned you yesterday that this was the devil’s medicine, but you didn’t listen. What’s the use of begging me now? I don’t have the antidote!”

Hearing this, the zoo director laughed. “Dr. Smith, what you’re saying sounds like a fairy tale! But since these aren’t your monkeys, I’m relieved. But before they turn back, I’ll have to put them in the monkey mountain to live with their kind.”

At the director’s signal, several people carried the iron cage towards the monkey mountain. Soon, the three monkeys were settled in the monkey mountain.

The director said to Dr. Smith, “New monkeys are often unwelcome and will be bullied by their kind, but it’ll be okay in a few days.”

Dr. Smith followed the director to the monkey mountain. Dozens of monkeys were baring their teeth and claws and charging towards the three new monkeys. The three monkeys hugged their heads and fled desperately, chattering in monkey language that humans couldn’t understand…

Dr. Smith smiled at the director and said, “Let these unlucky robbers suffer for a few days. I’ll go back and research the antidote now. When I can develop it depends on their luck!”
