These robbers are really out of luck. chapter 1

Dr. Smith at the Special Biological Pharmaceuticals Research Institute accidentally developed three pills. To be on the safe side, he always kept the pills with him.

One evening, as Dr. Smith was walking home, three men suddenly sprang out from a dark corner. Before he could react, he was knocked to the ground, and his bag was snatched away. One of the men rummaged through his body, leaving no corner untouched. The thing Dr. Smith had been worried about finally happened – the pill bottle was taken.

Dr. Smith exclaimed, “Don’t take this medicine! You can take everything I have on me, but please return these three pills to me…”

The leader of the robbers perked up at these words. “What kind of medicine is this? Is it very valuable?”

Dr. Smith quickly replied, “It’s not worth much, but it’s the devil’s medicine. There’ll be danger if you take it!”

The three robbers all let out a sneering laugh. One of them said, “Great! I’ve always wanted to become a devil.” Then he kicked Dr. Smith viciously, exchanged a look with the others, and they ran off quickly.

They ran all the way to a remote cottage, which was their hideout. The leader rummaged through Dr. Smith’s briefcase but found nothing of value. He angrily cursed, “Damn it! They say doctors are rich, but we’ve just robbed a poor guy. All we’ve got is a hundred dollars or so and this lousy phone…”

The second robber then said, “Boss, don’t forget those pills. Judging from how nervous he was, they must be something good.”

The third robber said, “He said this medicine has the power of the devil. Are you guys brave enough to take it?”

The leader opened the pill bottle and poured out one pill. “What’s there to be afraid of? Third, you try it first!” Before the third robber could reply, he stuffed the pill into his mouth, and the third robber swallowed it before he could react.

The three of them stared at each other silently. After a while, the leader asked, “Third, how do you feel?” The third robber stretched out his hands and grabbed at the air. “I feel very strong. I’ve got much more strength than before!”

Now the leader was reassured. He poured out the remaining two pills and swallowed one with the second robber.

It was late at night, and they all felt a bit sleepy, so they lay down to sleep. But they didn’t sleep long before they woke up. The leader felt his arm and exclaimed, “Feel your bodies. Have your body hairs grown longer?”

They turned on the light and looked at each other. The second robber calmly said, “Boss, the body hairs have indeed grown and turned a bit yellow, but it’s nothing. Don’t you feel full of energy? Now I feel I could knock down a bull.” With that, he went out the door. When he came back, he was actually carrying two huge stones. He said happily, “Great! From now on, I’m probably invincible in the world.”

The leader took the stones and weighed them in his hands. He also laughed. “Why are these stones so light today?”

The three of them were excited for a while. After calming down, they felt sleepy again, so they lay down to sleep once more. After some time, the leader woke up again. He got out of bed and took a few steps. He felt much lighter. So he woke up the second and third robbers and asked, “Do I look thinner?”

In fact, there was no need to ask because he could see that the second and third robbers had also lost a lot of weight. The three of them looked at each other again and laughed. “It can even help with weight loss!” The third robber jumped up unconsciously while laughing. To his surprise, he shot up into the air. With a “bang”, his head hit the ceiling…

The three of them quickly went to the yard and stood in a row facing the house. They heard the leader counting, “Three, two, one!” The three of them jumped up towards the roof at the same time. In the moonlight, three dark shadows soared several meters into the air and then landed lightly on the roof.

The leader stared blankly into the air. It wasn’t until his two brothers hugged him and said, “Boss, we now have superhuman powers. We don’t have to steal and rob anymore. We’re going to do something big…” Hearing this, the leader hugged his two brothers tightly and cried, “Guys, we don’t have to be afraid of the police anymore…”

The three of them were very excited for a while until they fell asleep again and slept until dawn.

As for Dr. Smith, he was worried about the three pills all night and didn’t sleep well. When it was broad daylight, the phone at home rang. He picked up the phone and heard a voice say, “Is this Dr. Smith? We’re from the zoo.”
