Showing Off His Skill and Having a Good Time

In winter, the nights are long. Just after 5 p.m., it was so dark that you couldn’t even see people’s faces clearly. Jack drove the car at full speed. In the blink of an eye, he left the town and headed towards Elmwood Village. There were many dog – raising families in Elmwood Village, and he had run over many dogs on this road before.

Jack stared at the road like a searchlight, ready to show off his skill at any time. However, contrary to his wishes, perhaps because of the cold weather, he didn’t even see a single dog hair. Jack was so anxious that he scratched his head. Without a dog, how could he let Tom taste the meat and see his skill?

Suddenly, Tom shouted, “Look!” Jack stared intently, and his eyes almost popped out. There, not far ahead on the road, was a big, fat black dog looking for food.

It was time to show off his skill! Jack first slowed down and stopped the car. He examined the dog for a while. In fact, he also had his own principles when running over dogs: two to run over and two not to run over. He would run over mature and strong dogs, but he wouldn’t run over pregnant female dogs or sick and rabid dogs.

After the examination, Jack stepped on the accelerator all the way. The car rushed towards the black dog like a wild horse. The black dog was terrified by the sudden appearance of the car and just ran forward as fast as it could. Jack chased after it closely. How could a dog’s legs outrun a car’s wheels? Just as it seemed about to be hit, Jack suddenly hit the brakes hard. Tom was puzzled: Why didn’t he run it over?

When the black dog ran towards the roadside, Jack stepped on the accelerator again and rushed towards it. Just as the car was about to hit the dog, Jack suddenly stepped on the brakes and turned the steering wheel sharply. The front of the car veered to one side and the rear of the car swept across the road. A miserable scream was heard. Jack let out a sigh of relief and turned to Tom and asked, “Do you think I hit it?”

Tom was still immersed in the excitement of the moment. He was a bit dazed and then said that the dog seemed to have run away. Jack smiled and asked Tom to get out of the car and take a look. With a puzzled look on his face, Tom got out of the car. By the light of the car’s headlights, they saw that the black dog was lying next to the front wheel.

Tom was amazed and couldn’t help asking Jack why he didn’t run over the dog at first. Jack said proudly, “This is one of my special skills – the side – impact method. It has many advantages!” Then he told an interesting story with great enthusiasm: In the past, there was a deer farm for the royal family. During the antler – harvesting season, they would tie up fat and healthy deer to trees in the farm, then beat drums and gongs to scare the deer so that their blood would rush to the antlers. Then they would cut off the antlers, which had a very high medicinal value. The same principle applied to dogs. Moreover, if the dog was crushed to a pulp, who would dare to eat it?
