The Murder by Phone chapter 2
by Michael GrayThe street phone rings
Two hours later, Lily called Sam and said that she was afraid of being surrounded by fans, so she hoped Sam could come to her house to meet. She also said that if Sam could hand over all the IOUs with her signature, she was willing to give up the leading – actress role in “The Final Showdown”. Sam didn’t expect Lily to make such a quick concession. His eyes sparkled with excitement and he hummed a tune all the way to Lily’s house.
When he passed by a phone booth on the street, an idea came to him: He should call Jessica to share the good news and take the credit! Haha, after this was done, he would surely get a lot of benefits. Sam walked into the phone booth. Just as he was about to pick up the receiver, the phone rang. Sam was very surprised: What’s going on? How could someone call this phone booth? Curiously, he picked up the receiver, and a very deep voice came from it: “Sir, don’t you find it strange that a street phone rings for no reason?”
Sam didn’t understand what the voice meant. While he was thinking, the voice on the phone continued: “Haha, sir, you know, I’ve been waiting for you! I bet if you leave this phone booth now, you’ll be in immediate danger of losing your life!”
Who would believe such a street – corner game? Sam cursed “Boring” and was about to hang up the phone. Suddenly, the other side shouted, “Wait!” Then came a calm voice, “You know, your every move is under my control!”
“Really?” Sam of course didn’t believe such nonsense, but he became interested in this phone call: Who was the other person? What did they want? He deliberately raised his left hand, scratched his ear, and shouted into the receiver, “Then do you know what I’m doing now?”
The other person laughed and said, “You’re scratching your ear.” Sam was shocked: Could he really see him? He turned around and looked around, but found nothing unusual. He frowned involuntarily. The voice on the phone sounded very proud: “Haha, Sam, you’re confused, aren’t you? That’s why you’re frowning!”
“What? You know me? Who are you exactly?” Sam said as he turned around again. His eyes scanned the surroundings, but except for a young man waiting to use the phone outside the booth, people were just going about their own business. There was no sign of anything abnormal. Sam began to feel nervous.
The voice on the other end of the phone became even more proud: “Don’t look for me. You won’t find me. I know you’re scared now, right?”
“Scared?” Sam roared into the receiver, “I’m not interested in your stupid game. I’ll call the police right away and let them punish you, you disgusting guy!”
Sam wanted to hang up the phone immediately, but suddenly the voice on the other end stopped. Sam held the receiver and shouted unwillingly: “What, are you scared too…” Before he could finish his sentence, the other end started firing off a series of words, talking about all the dirty things Sam had done in the past. Sam’s breathing became rapid: “Don’t frame me. Show me the evidence!”
