The Legend of Vampires chapter 1
by Kelly Evans PhDCrossing the Black Forest
For tourists visiting Romania, the ruins of Count Dracula are a must – visit place. Legend has it that the King of Vampires, Count Dracula, was born there. However, to reach the site from the capital, one has to drive through a vast black forest.
One day, Beckon, a tourist from London, was driving through this dense black forest. His female secretary, Lucy, was dozing off in the passenger seat. Beckon brought Lucy to Romania from London this time with the intention of killing her in a foreign land without anyone noticing.
Beckon had only hooked up with Lucy for fun at first. But unexpectedly, Lucy got pregnant and threatened him to divorce his wife with the baby. This was out of the question. Without his powerful chairman father – in – law, he would surely lose his position in the company.
Beckon had planned that when the car reached a more secluded part of the forest, he would strangle Lucy and then throw her body deep into the forest. This weekend trip was unknown to others. The body could remain undiscovered in the forest for months or even years. Even if it was found, it would be just a pile of bones, impossible to identify.
As the sky gradually darkened, the car had reached the center of the black forest. Beckon glanced at the rear – view mirror and was shocked to find a black car following not far behind. When his car sped up, the following car did too. When he slowed down, the other car also slowed down. Beckon was a bit puzzled. He stopped his car, hoping the other car would overtake. But after overtaking, the car stopped about ten meters ahead.
Beckon was annoyed. He drove his car beside the other one, rolled down the window and asked angrily, “Why do you keep following me?” Inside the car sat a man in his thirties wearing sunglasses, chewing gum. He said, “My name is Jason. I’m a wandering artist going to Count Dracula’s Castle for a job interview. I can’t find the way, so I guessed you were going there and followed you, hoping to arrive safely.”
Beckon had to accept his bad luck. He continued driving towards the castle, with Jason’s car trailing behind. He couldn’t carry out his plan to kill Lucy and dispose of her body in the wild, so he decided to find another opportunity.
