The Caught Fish chapter 2
by Emily MillerOne day, Yamamoto was thinking about how to make more money from Mitsuda. Suddenly, Mitsuda rushed to see him. He looked pale and in a bad mental state. As soon as he entered the door, he said to Yamamoto, “Doctor, I’ve got another tough problem.”
Yamamoto was stunned. “What’s the matter?”
Mitsuda said, “It’s blackmail again.” Mitsuda told Yamamoto that he didn’t know before that when he killed Peter, Peter was also blackmailing another man named Koyama. When Peter asked Mitsuda to send 2 million, Koyama also came to give Peter money. Since Mitsuda arrived first, the scene of him killing Peter was completely seen by Koyama. Now Koyama was taking the opportunity to blackmail Mitsuda, asking him to send 5 million to a designated place tonight, otherwise he would report the matter of him killing Peter to the police station. Mitsuda said helplessly, spreading his hands, “Alas, why am I so unlucky!”
Yamamoto asked him, “Do you know what kind of person Koyama is?”
Mitsuda shook his head. “I don’t know.”
Yamamoto said seriously, “Being blackmailed is really a tricky thing. But before you figure out the identity of the other person, you’d better not act rashly. I think you’d better give him the money first.”
“What did you say?” Mitsuda was so angry that his whole body trembled. “I can’t let him off so easily!”
“Then what will you do?” Yamamoto couldn’t help raising his voice. “Are you going to kill him too?”
As soon as Mitsuda heard the word “kill”, his whole body went limp as if his bones had been pulled out, and he immediately collapsed on the sofa.
Yamamoto glanced at him and softened his tone. “According to my personal analysis, there are generally two types of blackmailers. One is like Peter, who will always pester you. The other is the type who will stop after achieving their goal. After all, both are illegal. So it’s better for you to wait now. If he belongs to the latter type, just think of it as spending 5 million to settle the matter. It’s better than being caught by the police.”
As Mitsuda listened, he murmured to himself, “It seems that I have no other choice.”
Watching Mitsuda’s disappointed back as he walked out of the clinic, Yamamoto called him back from behind. “Well, I’ll give you an idea. When you give him the money, give him a warning. You can put a knife in the money – bag. If he is willing to stop, he should understand the meaning of the knife on the money.”
Mitsuda thought for a while and nodded.
That night, according to the agreed time, Mitsuda sent the money to the designated place and then left quickly. About an hour later, a dark figure crept over. He picked up the whole bag of money, waved the knife on the money and laughed wildly. Just then, a greeting came from behind, “Good evening, Doctor Yamamoto!” The dark figure was so frightened that he almost fell to the ground. Yes, the dark figure was indeed Doctor Yamamoto, and the one who shouted was Mitsuda.
Before Yamamoto could recover from his shock, Mitsuda said, “You’re really cruel, asking for 5 million at once.” Yamamoto looked confused. “How do you know it’s me?”
“Ha…” Mitsuda laughed. “I spent two whole months to make you fall into the trap.”
Yamamoto scratched his head, not understanding what Mitsuda meant.
Mitsuda said, “Don’t you understand? This is just a trap.”
Yamamoto’s face changed greatly. “A trap? Are all the things you said false?”
“Hahaha!” Mitsuda laughed loudly. “You’ll understand whether it’s true or false later. But Doctor Yamamoto, you’re too careless. Don’t you look at the knife and the money – bag in your hand?”
By the moonlight, Yamamoto looked down carefully. Only then did he find that the knife in his hand was covered with blood. When he pushed aside the money on the money – bag, there was actually a bloody head under it. Yamamoto couldn’t help screaming, “Is… is this Peter whom you killed?”
Mitsuda sneered, “You’re smart. Yes, he is Peter. I let him live a little longer and postponed his death to today.”
“What do you want?” Yamamoto looked a little panicked.
Mitsuda said, “Now there are your fingerprints on the knife and the money – bag. I also took a picture of you just now. As long as I hand over these evidences to the police station, everyone in the city will know tomorrow that you, Doctor Yamamoto, are a murderer…”
Yamamoto felt as if he had fallen into an ice – hole. He struggled to ask, “Tell me, what on earth is your purpose?”
Mitsuda said coldly, “Peter almost made me a pauper. Now I have nothing but a camera and a pistol on me. Can you lend me 5 million? Don’t worry, I’m not a hooligan. I don’t live by blackmailing. Our deal is a one – time thing. As you said, the second type of blackmailer will stop after achieving their goal. I know very well that blackmail is illegal.”
Hearing this, Yamamoto completely collapsed on the ground…
