A Lonely Life

Harris wasn’t happy even after getting the compensation. He thought it was really strange: Why did he always be diagnosed with a terminal illness after getting engaged to a girlfriend, and the illness would disappear after breaking up with her? He thought of the divination master old Jenny, so he asked her to help him divinate to find out what the problem was.

Old Jenny was bothered by Harris and had no choice but to take him to a dim little room. There was a crystal ball in the room emitting a mysterious glow. Old Jenny picked up the crystal ball, closed her eyes and meditated for a long time. Then she opened her eyes and told Harris, “You once made a vow to someone, but you haven’t fulfilled it yet. So, every time you get engaged, this vow will punish you.” Harris quickly asked, “What vow is it?” Old Jenny shook her head and said, “How do I know? But if you don’t fulfill that vow, you’ll be lonely for the rest of your life.”

Harris was in great distress. He really couldn’t remember what strange vow he had made that was causing him to suffer now. Harris thought hard: When he was a child, he vowed to his parents that he would get into an architecture university, but he secretly applied to an economics college; when he grew up, he vowed to his boss that he would work hard, but sometimes he still deliberately procrastinated, and even slept and played poker during work hours; he also vowed to his girlfriend that he would only love her, but sometimes he still dated female colleagues behind her back… The more Harris thought, the more scared he became. He had broken so many vows. Which one was the one that made him doomed to a lonely life?

Not long after, Harris found a new job at a gas station. There he met Lena. Lena seemed to have a good impression of Harris and often invited him to watch movies and go shopping on the street. After watching a movie one time, Lena confessed her love to Harris. Unexpectedly, Harris was so shocked that he ran away in a hurry. Before cracking that vow, he didn’t dare to associate with any woman. Although Harris also liked Lena in his heart, thinking that he would get a terminal illness as soon as he associated with a woman, he still backed off.

It was Lena’s birthday that day. Harris was invited to her birthday party. When he got to Lena’s house, he found that Lena had only invited him. Lena was wearing sexy clothes and had red lips. Especially after drinking a few glasses of wine, she boldly stared at Harris with a burning look in her eyes. “Harris, why don’t you accept my love? Am I really that讨厌?” Looking at Lena’s sad eyes, Harris was at a loss for words. Seeing Harris’s indifferent look, Lena couldn’t help crying sadly. Harris was very embarrassed and had to leave.

A few days passed, and Lena didn’t go to work. Harris was very strange. He asked his colleagues and found out that Lena had had a car accident after getting drunk that night and was now being rescued in the hospital. Harris rushed to the hospital quickly. Looking at Lena wrapped in thick gauze, he felt extremely sad.

Seeing Lena’s breathing getting weaker and weaker, Harris finally couldn’t help blurting out, “Lena, you must hold on. When you get out of the hospital, please… please marry me, okay?” Unexpectedly, a miracle happened. Lena actually opened her eyes. “Is… is this true?” Harris nodded seriously.
