I’m determined to marry him chapter 4
by Mary PetersLily said confidently, “You go to other houses right away and do the same thing. Remember, don’t tell them that someone has already agreed to vote for you. Just say you have no votes at all and see if they pity you.”
David didn’t understand, “You mean…”
Lily smiled and said, “This is called taking advantage of the chaos. Make them think that you’ll only get their vote and it won’t affect the overall situation. Think about it. If everyone thinks like this…”
David slapped his forehead and suddenly looked happy. He jumped up and didn’t need Lily to urge him anymore. He turned a corner and entered another house. Ten minutes later, he came out and made a victory gesture to Lily.
Before it got dark, David had visited every house in the village.
That evening, the village – wide election began. Jack swaggered into the meeting place first, looking confident and sure of victory. In contrast, David who came in later was listless. His eyes were full of pleading. Everyone could see that he had no confidence in this election and was ready to admit defeat. The two of them standing together were like boxers in a ring, one a heavy – weight and the other a light – weight, clearly not on the same level. Seeing David’s appearance, everyone thought that if they didn’t vote for him, he might really get zero votes.
Half an hour later, the election results were out: Jack only got five votes, while David got forty – five votes, winning by an overwhelming margin.
David and Lily excitedly hugged each other and repeatedly said “Thank you” to everyone.
Jack and Tom’s faces turned green. They angrily looked at the villagers, not understanding how this result could have happened.
The villagers looked at each other. After a moment, they understood what had happened. They realized that they had been tricked by David. They all let out a bitter smile. However, when they later saw the happy and excited young lovers, the feeling of being deceived gradually disappeared, and they couldn’t help but feel happy for them.
The result of the village – wide election to choose a son – in – law is valid!
