It was me who hit you. chapter 3
by Jack MoranThe people around couldn’t stand it anymore and started to blame Mr. Johnson. Mr. Johnson felt a bit embarrassed and mumbled, “It cost more than eight thousand dollars. I wonder if you can afford it. Well, if it’s really a dead person, I’m just unlucky.” As he said, he reached out and forcefully pulled the bundle from the old lady’s hand. With a loud noise, the bundle fell to the ground, and an urn wrapped in a bright red military flag appeared in front of everyone. Mr. Johnson was stunned and said, “What bad luck! I met a dead person while having a meal!” He spat on the ground three times in a row.
The old lady was stunned!
Without saying a word, the female staff officer raised her hand and slapped Mr. Johnson in the face. The sound was clear and loud.
Mr. Johnson was caught off guard. Just as he was about to make a scene, he saw that everyone was glaring at him. So he covered his face and mumbled to the female staff officer, “You… you soldiers are hitting people…”
The female staff officer wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes and said word by word to Mr. Johnson, “I’m a soldier with eighteen years of service. I hit someone today. I’m willing to accept the punishment from the military when I go back!”
As soon as the female staff officer finished speaking, everyone spontaneously started to clap their hands. Mr. Johnson saw that no one was paying attention to him. Suddenly, he saw me in the crowd and, like a drowning man grabbing a life – saving straw, he angrily shouted at me, “She hit someone. You, the waiter, have to testify!”
I knew that the hotel had a strict rule of “no arguing with customers”. But at this moment, looking coldly at this heartless guy, I didn’t care about anything. I held my head high and said loudly to him, “I’ll testify! She didn’t hit anyone. It was me who hit him!”
Unexpectedly, as soon as I said this, there were shouts all around: “It was me who hit him!” “It was me. This brute really deserves a beating!”
In the end, the manager handled the matter personally. I don’t need to say more about the result. Anyway, the next day, knowing that I had violated the hotel’s rules, I went to the manager’s office to resign. But before I could say a word, the manager said first, “The hotel has decided to promote you to the lobby supervisor. Also, help me think about how to revise the rule of ‘no arguing with customers’!”
