These four boys never expected that their act of saving someone would have such a big impact! It turned out that the foreign old man was a traveler named Mr. Carter. On the day of the commendation meeting, Jack, Tom, and David’s fathers were all invited. Only Sam’s father couldn’t come because he was busy with his experimental farm. Jack, Tom, and David were all wearing big red flowers and sitting in the principal’s office with their fathers. Sam couldn’t sit still, so he helped the teachers to receive the guests.

At this time, someone reported that the county mayor accompanied Mr. Carter and had arrived. Everyone in the principal’s office stood up, and the principal quickly went to greet them. The county mayor was a woman. She warmly shook hands with everyone. Mr. Carter hugged Jack, Tom, and David enthusiastically and kept searching in the crowd, calling out anxiously, “Sam! Sam!” The principal knew that he was looking for Sam. Where was Sam?

When Sam appeared in everyone’s sight carrying mineral water, Mr. Carter happily shouted, “Sam -” and opened his arms to greet Sam. The mayor’s secretary beside him gave Sam a thumbs – up and whispered in admiration, “Good boy, you’re really worthy of being the mayor’s son!” The secretary’s words were very soft, but they stunned the three arrogant boys standing beside the mayor.

The three boys couldn’t wait to pull Sam over and asked, “Is the mayor your mom?”

Sam nodded.

“But… but…” The three boys were left speechless. “Your dad… isn’t your dad a farmer?”

Sam said, “Yes! But just because my dad is a farmer, can’t my mom be the mayor?”
