Unauthorized Entry chapter 2
by Rebecca MorenoI had my dinner early, boiled some water, brewed a pot of tea, and comfortably settled on the sofa, waiting for the start of this battle of the century.
Just then, someone knocked on the door. This made me frustrated. I didn’t welcome anyone at this time. But the knocking continued, so I reluctantly went to open the door. It was a stranger. Without my permission, he walked in like an old friend. I asked, “Who are you looking for? You’ve got the wrong door. I don’t know you. Please leave.” The man didn’t even look at me or answer my question. He walked straight into the living room, sat down on the sofa, picked up a cup of tea I had just brewed, and drank it all in one gulp. It seemed he was really thirsty. I started to look at him carefully. I wondered if he was someone I wasn’t very familiar with but had some connection with. He did look a bit familiar. I was sure I had seen him somewhere.
At this time, the man spoke, “You really don’t know me. The reason I walked into your house instead of someone else’s is purely by chance. I’m a fugitive. I’ve killed someone, and the police are after me. But don’t be afraid. I don’t have a gun, a dagger, or any weapons. I can’t hurt you, and I don’t want to. I’m just hungry. If you could, out of humanitarian consideration, provide me with some food, I’d like to replenish my energy here. I think you will. Look at the clock. It’s 8:10 now. I won’t stay here long.”
I never thought that this uninvited guest was a murderer! Only then did I notice that this stranger had chapped lips, a sallow complexion, long and messy hair, dirty clothes, and his trouser legs and shoes were covered in mud. It seemed he had been on the run for more than just a day or two, at least over a month. Now he couldn’t hold on any longer and took the risk of coming here to rest before continuing to evade the police…
While I was thinking like this, the man had sat down on the other sofa, and at this time, Tyson had entered the ring. In my memory, Tyson became the world’s heavyweight boxing champion at the age of 20 years and 145 days, the youngest heavyweight champion in the world. He dominated the boxing world with a record of 37 consecutive wins, 34 of which were knock – outs. But at the peak of his career, he lost to Douglas in Tokyo. Later, he was accused of rape by an American beauty and was imprisoned for several years. I couldn’t remember if this was his fifth or sixth fight after his release from prison. In the previous rounds of this championship fight, he had ended the battles with lightning – fast dominance, which disappointed the audience. His opponent this time was Holyfield. The media unanimously thought the odds of their victory were 10:1, of course, 10 for Tyson and 1 for Holyfield. But I really hoped Holyfield would win to teach that arrogant Tyson a lesson!
At this moment, the fight between Tyson and Holyfield on the TV screen had begun. Tyson still wanted to use his old tactic, launching a whirlwind – like attack on Holyfield at the start, hoping to knock down his opponent within the first few seconds or one or two rounds, or even make him unable to get up. As expected, Holyfield was no match. Although he defended with all his might, he still took a lot of punches. Hold on, hold on, I silently cheered for Holyfield in my heart. Fortunately, Holyfield managed to resist Tyson’s crazy attack stubbornly, and the first round ended…
